But I had a great time, anyway.  I love that lagoon and have had some good luck with the cut-throat and even a steelhead in the past … But that was not to be today…. so no fish porn here, but maybe a few nice pix.

The lagoon is very full.  I've never fished it when it was this full.  It has not breached this year, I am told.

It was dead calm when I got there and the Park Maintenance guys were hauling new picnic tables across the Lagoon to Ryan's Cove Campground.

By now a small breeze from the ocean came up and stayed the rest of the day, but it was very light, no problem.

Another kayak fisherman named "Sam" showed up.

He had the same idea that I did, even down to choice of lures.  Not sure if he had the same outcome I did.  We parted ways once we crossed the Lagoon.

We both started in the cove where they were working on the campground.  The prison work crew hiked in from Dry Lagoon I am told.

This guy is giving me his best "Captain Morgan".

Sam went to the east and I headed west, towards the sand spit and the north end.

The water was kind of "chocolate" -- not that clear but not exactly muddy -

There was some kind of yellow "scum" -- pollen I think -- that was in the water and built up on west facing shores.  It makes for an interesting picture -- but it was somewhat disconcerting.

There was a guy fly-fishing off the sand spit, taking advantage of the ocean breeze.

There were two eagles -- but I only managed this one shot ..

So ends my Spring Break -- it's back to L.A. tomorrow.  But I'll be Humboldt dreaming.

See ya in June.

Nice photos.

Everyone gets skunked once in a while. Seriously need to go back in the water to wash the stink off whenever I get skunked. I even go as far as sneaking in an hour or 2 on the yak the very next day just so I can catch a fish and rinse the skunk off of me. LOL!!!

Drive safe. Thanks for sharing.
