I saw a spirit or "ghost" once in person at an old church in upstate N.Y or should I say saw the lower dress pant legs -black dress/church shoes and some type of preachers gown as it walked up some stairs and around a curved rising staircase and out of my line of sight.
I was doing some work in an old church. No one else was there at the time and my coworker was running an errand.
I was reading the churches community board on the wall while I waited for my buddy to get back.
there was a curved stair case that went up to a church functions upstairs room. The stairs went up behind me and the board I was reading was shoulder high and had a glass cover with slide glass doors and a locking case with a post it board inside.
I saw shoes and pant legs on the stairs in the reflection and jumped ,very startled thinking I was all alone,I spun around as the shoes and legs would have taken one more step to round the corner up and into the stair well.
No one was there.
I waited outside until my friend returned and we went up the stairs to the empty room -no one but us in that church.
I had never really spent any time thinking of "ghosts" or spirtits up to that point in my life.I had believed or pondered other off center topics ,but, never the ghost deal.I do not watch the ghost hunter shows or speak to the dead john edwards type stuff.I dont think about ghosts or read books-no interest really, but,I did have this one strange deal where I saw a tall mans legs in black dress shoes and slacks with a white gown just past the knee and maybe some red or purple trim on the gown-walk up a few stairs and vanish.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”

rats,

I'd rather live with ghost

not sure on that one; rodents are easier to get rid of...

Too much lovin' yourself in front of yourself.   :smt044 :smt044

I'm good, but I cant shoot that high on the mirror :smt007

Turn off the lights and turn on a black light.
You'll find G-whizing marks all over the place  :smt044

Did that! Nothing!

Also check for Rat/mice urine, nothing...

I think my wife wished i found some rodent trails to explain them, but nothing

No need to scare yourself yet. Install surveillance cameras to see how your items got moved. It could be caused by all kinds of things... pets, rats, kids, thieves, alzheimer, etc....

pets: they can't open doors or drawers

kids: only my son (24) & GF (23) live with us; and they know better than to tough my stuff. plus it happens to there stuff too...

thieves: house has an alarm, plus 3 dogs (including a pitbull); and i pretty sure they would they would have taken alot of my elctronics if they got pass the dogs & alarm...

Alzheimer: what was i talking about again?  :smt044 don't think i'm there yet; not sure about the wife  :smt003JK

I wouldn't say that I believe in ghosts, but I don't disbelieve people who say they have seen them. However, it does seem like certain people tend to see them and they generally want to see some sort of proof of a spirit world. Then the other people are generally going into, or coming out of sleep and are probably unknowingly experiencing lucid dreaming.

The first time I experienced a lucid dream ghost was right after watching "Predator" as a child. I woke up from a dream to see a kind of ball in the air that looked like thermocline, kind of how predator looked when nearly invisible. Anyways, scared the shit out of me at the time.

A couple years back I woke up to see a wolf spider the size of a catchers mit scurry behind a bookcase. I jumped up and tore the bedroom apart but no spider.

I have heard a lot of experiences with contact of a recently deceased loved one, but it kind of makes sense if you know what the mind is capable of producing. Look at what schizophrenics minds produce, whole, real ( to them) people that they talk to.

Speaking of dreams. Back in my early twenties, I dreamed that I witnessed a small plane crash into a farm field. In the dream I stopped and helped the pilot, who was female, and reassured her it was going to be alright. Then woke up. Well here's the gnarly part....In my truck, on the way to work the next morning, and while having my coffee and listening to the radio, I hear the news guy state that during the night, a small plane had crashed in the farmlands just a few miles from where I lived. He said the pilot was a female and was expected to live. Whoa, talk about the hair standing up on the back of my neck..... I was so freaked out that I didn't go to work that day. Was it a coincidence or a premonition???   and why?

I do believe something is haunting your house bro.  It's been happening to many times now.  I know you are not imagining it.  Kinda creepy.  I don't know how you could sleep knowing some spirit is walking around your house.

Glen, I think your rod wrapper & a bunch of your ammo is haunted so you need to sell it all to me. :smt005

......and yes, I believe they are real.  My dad passed away in our house a few years back.  Since then, I have been working on completion of the garage (man cave).  Part of that completion was installing a breaker panel.  Couldn't find the one I really wanted to fit the space I wanted to install it in.  Looked around the other shop to see if there was something useable in there but nothing.  Went back in the shop a couple days later & there, new in a box, was THE breaker panel that was a perfect fit & perfect size for the project ... just a few feet inside the door, in plain site.  By no means was it EVER there before.  Not even dusty & dirty like everything else around it.  I am CERTAIN he placed it there for me to find.  Proof that there is hardware stores on "the other side".

I used to be a non believer but now at least I'll entertain just about any existential thoughts but that's another story.

For now:

I live alone, One night I was sound asleep, and something touched my arm, man my eyes flew open, I switched on the light and tried to convince myself I was dreaming.  Then I saw a mouse run accross the carpet, it was so fast I was still wondering what was real.  Got up, set a trap (with bacon), turned out the light and in like 2 minutes heard that satisfying "SNAP".  I slept like a baby the rest of the night.

I don't know what the sucker was doing on my bed, that part still bugs me.

I'm a believer and have a few stories to tell. I'll share a couple:

Story 1
When my grandma was still alive in the Philippines, she told my grandpa that if he neglected their kids, that she will pull his legs in his sleep when she dies. This was around 1967, right before my grandpa moved to Guam for work.

One early morning in April of 1979, my grandpa called home (Philippines) and spoke to my aunt, telling her that he couldn't sleep the night before - it felt as if someone kept pulling his feet down while he was sleeping. That is when my aunt told him that my grandma just passed away.

Story 2
I had an uncle who lives in Fairfield but worked nights in the Bay Area. According to his wife, one night, while she and the kids were sleeping, they heard a loud commotion in the kitchen - loud enough that they thought they had a burglar inside the house. They heard the slamming of cabinet doors, noise from glasses and plates, but when she checked, she saw that no one was there. A couple of hours later, they got a call form the Police and was told that my uncle just died from a car crash on the way home.

I believe in that too there was this one guy at work that would tell me a bunch of stories about how he used to get haunted because he played the ouija board one of the stories he told me was that while he was sleeping something heavy got on top of him and he couldn't move or yell then after whatever was on top of him got off he started cussing it out in Spanish and he just heard some kind of witch laugh in the living room crazy thing was that he was home alone  :smt009
