Brent, being able to share in your dropping of a candle for your Pop at the first PIF was a memory I will not soon forget.  Your family is in my thoughts.

As a life long asthma champion, know that there are lots of great options for long term management. Asthma never stopped me from doing the things I wanted to do, including sports.  Great to hear about the improvements.

Todays goal is lots of fluids. Breathing exercises and to ween down on oxygen so we can hopefully, finally get out of ICU to a private room. Its crazy in here right now, and its freaking her out. Today should be a good day of progress if she pushes hard. We promised Aquarium season passes if she gives it her best and it seems to have motivated her. Shes still weak but strength will come with eating and rest. Shes a tough little girl and we love her very much. Hope today we can more progress.

I want to thank you all for the support and donstions. Those will help us greatly. Its really amazing. Makes me cry if im going to be honest. No parent wants to see there child here and so close to death. Good news is shes on the mend.

THANK YOU!  Its gonna take time for us all to recover emotionally, but i couldnt be more proud of our girl, shes proved shes a tough little girl. Shes been pushing hard.

Honestly Brent it brought tears to my eyes the first time I read this and saw the pic of Hailey. I am so glad things are taking a turn for the better. Your little girl is a fighter and I am checking for your updates on her progress all the time.

Be strong and I can't wait to see the pics from the aquarium trip!!!

Both my wife and I, as well as all of us have been so shaken by your little girl and what your going through.

So glad to hear that she is doing better.

  If I can share our experience with our twin boys, it might help down the road. Our boys were premature and my wife was pre-eclampitic towards the end of her pregnancy.  The boys were in ICU for a while but of of course they made it through. For three years it was a constant "High Alert" when they got colds or something would just go wrong with their diagnosis of asthma,,,  I won't go into it, but it was varied and frightful.

Once we started them with swimming lessons around 3 1/2, things started to change. I guess the forced air in the lungs with having to hold their breath in the water, PEEP,  strengthen their lungs, and getting older helped too. We still have our issues now and then, but when we got them swimming was when things changed for the better.

  So glad to hear she is doing better and do something nice for you and your wife, you deserve it!

So good news. Finally.

So we were able to ween haileys oxygen all day. Eventually getting her off oxygen for bed time! She worked real hard at her breathing exercises. She looks like herself again. She starting to eat more. Shes lost some weight and is week in the legs a bit. If she meets her goals today we may get to come home saturday and finish rehabbing there. Very exciting. Hard to think we almost lost her, thats so tough to deal with. But shes likely coming home. We need to get out of this ICU.  She needs lots n lots of rest. We all do. This has been so draining. Were so happy shes still with us, things like this ste any patents worst nightmare.

Lots of work ahead. Were in good hands though. We are set up for pulmonolgy appoints for follow ups and testing.

Update made my day, I've been checking back on this thread often. I am always amazed at the resiliency of children.  I wish I could bounce back from illness and injury like they do! Here's hoping for a continued fast recovery and a quick homecoming.
