Looks like a nice park and a great place for an NCKA's hook-up.

Looks like it would work for a fish n chill. Picnic tables, short walk to load in the gear. I wonder how the possible mud flats affect water access. It looks like the gravel bar might make it easier to reach deeper water. I didn't go wading so I can only guess.

So.... when's the get-together... We will have to pay one of you guys off in beer to see in the parking lot and watch our cars...while you drink free beer  :smt007

Seriously, PM me if someone wants to explore that area by yak...as I would like to have a partner along on a maiden voyage -RFn D

I fish at Molate a lot and can tell you that it is safe as far as break in's are concerned.  Fish and game frequently go through that area and there are cheveron security guards posted all along the road.  The new park looks very nice but the beach is way too shallow, you would need to launch at high tide but risk walking your kayak through yards of mud once out going tide is in effect.  I launch a bit up the road at San Pablo Yacht harbor, they have a beach that gets pretty shallow but it's not a long walk to get to deep enough water.  Just make sure you park in the front for visitors and you inform the office that you would like to park there to kayak, they seem cool about it.  Some times I launch at the fork before going up the hill to the yacht harbor where the yellow rails are.  There's a nice pebble beach there that you can hop right in to the yak, no shallow mud, quick and easy once you get over the rails.

Have you been in the water at Pt. Molate since the improvements? I wondered if the gravel bar shown in the picture might make for a useable pathway out to deeper water. It looks like it is man made and making it for crossing the mud was what came to mind.

The photos were taken around 4:00pm on the the 9th. My tide app says low tide was at 3:05 PM. I looked at my Navonics map and there is very shallow water at the beach. I just can't tell if that gravel bar extends far enough to reach deeper water or if it would work to wheel your kayak on.

28.65. GENERAL. Except as provided in this article, fin fish may be taken only on hook and line or by hand. Any number of hooks and lines may be used in all ocean waters and bays except:
(a) San Francisco and San Pablo bays between the Golden Gate Bridge and the west Carquinez Bridge, where only one line with not more than three hooks may be used.

I like it, place looks way different that what I remember. The only problem is the sign of "No fishing and No alcohol"

and "only one rod"  :smt044
