I am new to the area and have done some spearfishing in the past but never anywhere where I needed to wear a wetsuit.

I am thinking about getting a Mako suit and am looking for some advice on what thickness I should go with.

I live about 15 minutes away from Stillwater Cove in Carmel and that is where I intend on doing most of my diving.

How thick of a suit do you guys general dive with out here?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds great!  Its going to be a few weeks before I'll be able to get all my gear together though.

By the way, is there a way to get to Stillwater cove without having to pay $9.50?

You need a friend who lives in pebble beach that can call the gate and let you in,get an employee business pass(work there) or pay the fee.
7mm wetsuit for these waters to be comfy for sure.

I guess I will just have to pay the fee until I make more friends!

If you really don't wanna pay the $10 and still want to dive the area you can launch from Ocean ave in carmel and paddle north...course you will have to deal with the big ass sand dune.

I'd rather pay the $10.

Yeah, I think I would rather pay the ten bucks than have to haul my yak all the way down that beach.

10 bucks is a small price to pay for a days worth of fishing/diving, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some "secret" entrance or something.

7mm. The worst that will happen is you'll get too hot and have to let water in.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

Go with the mako. I've been using it forever now and its been great. And dano is such a great guy if you have problems just let him know and he will help you out. I would go with the beaver tail with the buckle verses the Velcro. My velcrow is dying on me :smt044
