epoxy is crazy tough compared to glass, at least for surfboards. I would go that way for a kayak for sure.

I agree - nice pics and report!  It was great time up there as usual.  I just wished I got chance to fish with you guys and hang out at your camp more.  Time flew!

J.... I heard some fishing kayak manufacturers are seriously looking at using thermoplastic as the next step up from polyethelene.  :secret

What's not good about launching it in surf? If it wasn't good for that that'd pretty much rule it out for me

It actually behaves very well in the surf, but by necessity it is un-scuppered.  If you take one over the bow you are in a free-range bath tub until you get the cockpit empty...not really as bad as it sounds, but something I'm just not used to dealing with.  Why go thru the hassle (which really only takes about a minute)?  Paddle one and you'll understand.  The low seat and contoured cockpit make for unparraled stability for these dimensions and its like having thigh-straps without the straps.

It is such a different approach that I was unsure my first few paddles...after all change is bad.  However, as I get used to the new approach it is more appealing every paddle.  This will be THE machine for runing down boils at Mendo.

Haven't heard of any updates from Kaskazi, and I do communicate with them.  The Dorado is $1775.
