I joined Fish Junky for a couple of days fishing in our kayaks at Pyramid Lake in Nevada.  We arrived at Sutcliff around 9 AM on Tuesday.  We heard of some good reports in the Nets area so we started there.  Pyramid Lake is almost all beach so you can launch just about anywhere.  We hit the water and began trolling with a mixture of lures we had success with in the past.  We fished from the RV park down to Wino Beach but the fish weren’t in abundance.  Just before 3 PM we each were rewarded with a 21 inch cutthroats…..too big…… gotta go back!  The regs for Pyramid state up to 17 inches….throw back.  17 to 20, OK to keep 2.  20 to 24 throw back and over 24 you’re allowed to keep just one.  The Paiute Tribe is adamant about these rules and the penalties are steep.  We headed to Sutcliff to Crosby’s to our rental cabin.  $55 a night, not much to look at but beats the hell out of driving back to the valley after a day on the water.   Dinner and a few adult beverages we hit the rack in anticipation of better fishing in the morning.  We headed to Warrior Point in the morning after learning the bite was better there.  We launched by the “mushroom” ( a concrete structure that looks like a mushroom( a historical marker ???)) and stayed in the area all day.  The bite was slow to start but soon turned on and the fish were willing to play.  By days end Kevin had about 8 to the boat and I 4.  The fish ranged from 17 to 21 inches.  We both lost multiple fish (barbless hooks only).  I hooked a real monster and had him on for about 10 minutes but he finally spit the hook.  I’m sure I would have had my pic on the wall at Crosby’s with that one (any fish over 10 pounds gets your picture on the wall and a small lapel pin).  We lucked out on the WX as it was flat ass beautiful both days.  On our way home it just started snowing on the summit.  Good stuff.  A few photos for your approval….

The sky had a dramatic look about it today.

Kevin scores a nice trout.

Yours truly with a nice male cutthroat.

Now this is the way to start the day.

The "mushroom".

Kevin with another "too big to keep" fish.

Another cutthroat comes to visit me.

Looks like a fun trip! Congrats!! My nephew is a member of that tribe and has asked me a few times to go there with him. Now I think it's time to plan a trip up there. Your pics reminded me of how beautiful it can be there.
