What is the best leader/tippet for an 8wt line when fly fishing for perch or do I just need a butt section.  What do you use?

i haven't fly fished for perch in years now, but I used to use a Type IV sinking tip (Rio brand i believe). I always figured that i needed to get down to 3-4 feet in 10 seconds or so to keep the fly in the zone.
That and my little Mini-puff (orange sparkle head) and i did pretty well.

I use straight 20 pound in the surf.  I don't use a butt and tippet.  I also fish a 3 fly rig using dropper loops tied in the line.  Perch are not leader shy from what I have seen, and if you hook into a striper or leopard shark you will be real happy you have 20 pound test.

As for the line I use a type 8 shooting head most of the time.  But it depends on the how the surf is that day, sometimes I will go with a slower sinking head and sometimes with a faster sinking head.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
