Thinking of making a trip to Clear lake. Does anyone know of some spots on the south portion of the lake that have good kayak access. I have never been there, I know it is a big lake but the bass are calling me. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks

I've launched at Redbud several times to fish the south end. Make sure not to leave anything of value in your vehicle just in case of a break in. Nobody has ever messed with my truck but I've read reports of smash & grabs that have happened there in the past.

I launched at redbud a couple weeks ago. No problems, but there were certainly vagrants and nefarious sorts hanging around the parking lot and I did get hit up for change both coming and going.

The bait and tackle shop right in front of the park was super helpful.

I was at Redbud yesterday afternoon in the town of Clearlake. It took like 3 passes through town on the main drag to find the place. Finally pulled into a bait shop and they told me it was just behind them (turn in toward lake next to the Thai restaurant).

That is one impressive launch complex. I didn't bring my yak rig, so I did some fishing off the TALL dock. It's like fishing off an ocean dock now because of the low water conditions. Local woman angler was catching smaller bass on her grey/silver wacky-rigged plastic worm. I was catching a skunk while deep bobber fishing for crappie/sunfish.

From what I could see, the few bass boats were working main lake points and deeper offshore areas.

The lady that owns the store told me to launch and then park up by their back door and the people that hang out down there won't bother it. Very good people in the store and if her husband is there, he knows the spots.

Thank you all for the info, checked the spot out in google earth and it looks like it could be pretty productive. I am rigging up my new lowrance elite 4 this week and am hoping to get out there this weekend (depending on the weather conditions). May have to push it back if the wind forecast isn't favorable. Either way I will report back when I get out there. Thanks again for the info.

They kicking bass ass in the oaks arm of the lake right now. Easy launch 400 to 500 yard paddle to the island and your on fish. Stop and talk to Higgie at limit out B and T. He will give you the run down.
