Want to throw this out there kinda early to see the sac area interest.

Was thinking about heading out in march and April to do some self rescue training. If your thinking about hitting the salt for the fist time this year I would highly recommend you spending a little time doing some self rescue training.

I will post a hook up when we get closer.

Safety first!!!

Great hook up James! People that hasn't done self rescue in while should take advantage of this with people supporting. I might be down for this  :smt001

I highly recommend taking professional training for paddling technique and self rescue. Practicing by yourself is fine... but there is a lot more that can be learned from a professional.

At a minimum you should learn self rescue.....thanks Rider for offering this again.   :smt007

MBK provides this type of course along with other companies. I have personal experience with this one.  :smt023

Invest in an intro course to kayaking.

If you want to use a sit-on-top kayak for coastal trips, this class is a great investment towards making your adventures safe and enjoyable This class combines the Intro to Kayaks and Surf Zone for a comprehesive and intensive fun day. Includes wetsuit, sit-on-top single kayak and all gear. Instructors are ACA trained. A minimum 2 people are required for the class, or available by private instruction.

Offered every Sunday 9:30 to 5:00

You will also be able to demo their yaks in the process. I believe they offer an NCKA discount as well.

I strongly recommend a course of this type. Always remember safety first. You want to feel safe and comfortable in the water before you start fishing from a yak.

That sounds like something I would love to attend.  I still haven't practiced self rescue and want to take my first ocean trip this year.

I hope my schedule allows me to attend.  Last week in March and first week in April I will be in Mexico getting my scuba cert.

Keep us posted on the dates.

I done a little on my own with a bare kayak, but I want to do more. I figure I should try it with gear strapped on it and cold weather restrictive clothes on. More of a real life scenario.
