:smt117    Anyone else going to be in Alaska in a few days? Just have to tease a little. I'm going crazy waiting to bag a barn door and some big ole chickens.

Sure Brian,

We'll be landing at about 3:00 on Friday afternoon.  Sure isn't easy to keep the mind on work in the meantime.

See ya there!

I think next year is going to be a costa rica trip. Have to pick Brendan's brain for that trip because he lived down there for a while.

It's REALLY hard to be very focused on anything other than final prep for this adventure.  Thanks for the good wishes guys.

A friend of mine just got back from Alaska, he adn 15 other friends took home over 4000 lbs of salmon and halibut.  Luckily he was generous with his catch.  Yum Yum

I've been pulling all nighters this week to finish everything I need to get done before leaving on Friday evening.   :smt013  I haven't even begun to think about packing.

Alex, why the J hooks?  I'm a big fan of the 16/0 circles for the butts.

Brian G, we have something to talk about up there in AK.  I'm working on something for Costa Rica as well.

The circle hooks work good but it lacks the stinging power of the set! I like to feel the bite and give them a little before setting .

with circle hooks  you have to be more carfull. you can't  set the hook.  I feel you get more excitement when your able to bury the J hook in its jaws and feel the fish go berserk!!!  Then the fun begins...

I guess its just a preference :smt003

So you reel down tight and the circle sets itself ... then you yell "SON!" and set the hook like you're Molbasser fishing a bass tourney.  I guarantee you that girl down there will wake up and go berserk!
