I just counted 11 that I've had in the family.  Think we only have 5 left (2 of them are my kids 6' long kayaks).

The poll might be swayed by sponsored anglers. I average 1.5 yaks a year, but I'm sponsored by O.K. so I didn't vote.

I still pay for my kayaks.  So do you.

Yes, we have a little discount.

I didn't buy a kayak for a long time since I always used the best of the rental fleet :smt044
Then I quit guiding and had to pony up for my own:

1995 Prijon Yukon Tour SIK (red)
1999 Dagger Cayman SOT (red)
1999 Dagger Cayman SOT (orange)
2002 Cobra wave witch SOT
2004? Wildy T140 SOT

the last 3 are the current fleet.

I got my Revo in '08 and never looked back.
I did buy an Adventure for the wife to use when she goes kayaking at Tahoe.
It was pissing her off to see me sipping on a margarita pedaling into the wind while she had to stop paddling to take a sip and get blown backwards.
I don't plan on butyng anything new for as long as these two will hold out.

There is a parallel universe to this, the hardcore biker's collection of steel, aluminum, titanium, carbon fiber bikes. Must have's. Good road, town beater, hardtail mtb, full suss mtb, cross. Best rides can easily exceed cost of a fully outfitted AI so tell the significant other that kayaks, even in multiples, are cheap compared to wheels and chain. Old age has approached and I thinned the herd. Down to a Specialized road bike and a Ti hard tail 29r.

Even with an AI, I'm always on the hunt for another kayak.  Currenlt on the hunt for a SWS dedicated yak.  Been using my WS Pungo sit in at SWS the past few trips with good success though.
