If I knew then what I know now thread

What would you have done different kayak fishing related? I think I would've bought a drysuit in the first place and avoid the extra expenses of buying farmer john, wader, jacket, etc.

Also, I think I would've bought a hobie as my first kayak. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy paddling short distances, but I'm always about the fishing.

I would have more patient and counted the sets longer before trying to come in at Anchor Bay this fall. 

stop (or never start) buying so much tackle. And spend money to get good gear up front...thank god for the classifieds section

I think it is human nature to try and buy things cheap in general, then ending up upgrading to something better eventually. Golf clubs, fishing poles, and now guns, I need to seek professional help.

gone to the original red bard and Elk events

Put the rod and reel down and picked up the speargun right away.

 

And bought a freedive suit, RA 70, longblade fins, rubber weight belt and good dive light right away as well.

Yeah Elk I, the legendary bloody basketball court & 40inch club...
& Elk II, PVC wheels collapse into the poison oak trail...

in 2003, I should never have tried to surf land with my favorite reel out & exposed

Should have fished with my bros Aaron & Joel more often.

I should have started building gaffs & harpoons sooner

I would have watched for those 1' sneaker waves more closely!

and I never ever should have given those two halibut (2005 & 2009) any slack line!

I would have found NCKA/kayak fishing sooner.  Spent way too much time on the banks when I could have been on the water.     

I would have started off with a P15 instead of a Caper.
