Work for Honda in Salinas. Have a 2005 crv I am selling on craigslist. Love the new crv. just wish Honda would put a little more effort into reducing road noise. new crv has Bluetooth and back up cameras in all models. Mileage is ok. they also have an economy button to help with fuel mileage. storage is great with the retractable seats. have all weather mats in all my vehicles that help with the sand and such

While I have neither of the two, I looked at a lot of cars, before deciding on a left over 2012 Camry Hybrid.  It is of the newer body style, and we have been very happy with it.  The deciding factor for us is, I am 6'2" and Jan is 5'0.  It fits both of us nicely.  we can put her dad in the back seat and he is happy to ride back there without any complaints  She gets upwards of 50 around town (I don't)  but I routinely get 40-45 around town and a solid 38-40 highway.

So my dad and I went in to look at an Outback in San Rafael. 2013, 2.5 Premium, 7700 miles, $23,995 plus tax. I passed on it. They wouldn't budge on the price. Is that reasonable? I was expecting some wiggle room. Is this a good deal? It was about $26,400 all things told.

You should be able to get a new one (automatic but no other options) for about $24,600 if not lower.

That's what I thought. Just found an '02 Forester with 98K for $6,800. Gonna go check it out. Might be the car for me!

check if headgasket was replaced? it's known problem for 90's and 00's Subaru Engines (some ppl had to replace headgaskets about 100K and than drive another 100K)

Thanks, good to know!
I also just noticed this car is priced $1800 above KBB value. Might have to rethink it.

Thought I'd put this thread to rest. I bought a 2013 Outback yesterday. CPO, still under warranty, seems like a great car. I know now that the guys at the dealership lied to me about some things. Long story though.
I hope this Subaru lives up to its reputation!
Can't wait to see my kayak on it.

Congrats on the new ride.  If you don't mind me asking, about how much did it set you back?  My dad is in the market for a new(er) vehicle, and that is one of the choices.

$22,700. I was hoping for lower, but other dealerships were selling these same 2013 Outback Premiums for $25000. My price was well below Blue Book.

Their prices were good I think, but the guys were all shifty. We agreed to a specific car with 10,500 miles for $22,700, and when I got there, that car had been sold, but they had this one with 13,000 miles for the same price. I couldn't see how this was a scam; the Carfax checked out, it drove fine (so far), the miles were almost the same, and the price was exactly the same.

This morning, the car I bought has been removed from their site but the other one is still there. I'm guessing they needed to ged rid of this car for some reason. As long as its clean, I don't care. I just don't like being lied to. Watch for my review on Yelp!

This was the Subaru dealership in San Rafael, fyi.

If its what it looks like, that is shady! I could go off for hours on the slimy tricks some salesmen tried to pull on me....feel so dirty after talking with them I need to take a shower afterwards.... :smt011

Well, congrats again on the new ride, after all I've read and heard about them, you should be very happy for a while.
