I soliciting any input on the Quick Draw rod Holders.  I currently have Scotty Baitcaster/spinning rod holder but find my rod but sticks in it because it's too narrow.

I know Joel likes his.  Does anyone else have feedback?  Also, I am trying to verify if it will fit in a Scotty rod holder base and what the internal diameter of the tube is.

Thanks,

Doug

Doug - sorry, I forgot to back at you regarding the internal diameter - I promise to get back to you tomorrow. In the mean time, I'd like to introduce you to the most advanced (and most sensitive) rod holder - soon to be in the market....presenting the "HRHS"

Thanks,

I know you are busy responding to lots of other postings so I thought I'd just see if anyone else had the diameter.  But I can wait to hear back from you.

Doug

Doug - I finally measured it = 1.5 inches = diameter from the inside. Hope this helps :smt001

I'm trying to figure a good spot for the front rod holder on my Tarpon 13. I'm thinking side mount inside foot cubby. W/my long legs there are a few foot cubys near my calf I can tuck the sidemount into. Any thoughts? Mooch what do you think of the sidemount system for the Quick draw. Randall

gotcha! I had those on my older Prowler - it served it's purpose but I prefer the current model cause you only drill once and your done. And with the new kind, once you remove the rod holder itself, there's nothing sticking out  :smt002

I too like the mounting hardware (or lack there of) of flush mount. KISS princple. The top rail(by calf) of Tarpon13t is so narrow I dont know if I have the outside dia.clearance for flush mount. If you can recall, would the side mounts fit inside foot slots. does this make since? Randall

Hard to say - I don't know the specifics of a Tarpon. Is the Tarpon 13 a tandem?

yes and it definitly is a pain for hatches and mounting crap on. The only flat surfaces are at front and back out of reach. I'm on a mission to have it ready for mendo and seaside. are you living right in seaside? Where is Peninsula. Randall

I assume your sitting on the rear seat when you paddle this yak solo...if so, maybe you can fit a rod holder in front of the drink holder - right in between the two side carrying handles.....
