It seems do to my ignorance and naivety I may have crossed some boundary asking about kayaks.

I was asking why people chose a certain brand .

I only wanted to read everyone's opinions about their choices.  I was and or will not make my choice simply based on their response . I just enjoy reading the responses and they give me food for thought .

Many of you have PM an offer to demo their kayaks. I am grateful not only for the offers and the amount of time that would involve.

If I have offended anyone and made it look like I was looking for an easy answer to finding a kayak, it was and is not my intention.

There is an overwhelming amount of experience and knowledge here. I just wanted to tap into it. Everyone has been extremely helpful.

My exuberance my have clouded my judgement.

Respectfully, Vic

I don't think any lines were crossed.  That's what we do here ... discuss!  And as you've found out, many here will go above and beyond to help a brother out.

Vic,

I for one appreciated your questions, lots of people on the forum with differing amounts of experience and differing goals or purposes.

I have well over 1000 hours fishing in a kayak and still learning and looking at further options. Some good info on other other kayaks and the reason people purchased.

+1!

Ask away IMO. And demo, demo, demo.

If some people don't like you asking a polite question like that...it's on them not on you.

It's a lot like the playoff game today. Some definitely like other 'brands' than others.
And some talk an inordinate amount of $#!T putting down one type of kayak for another.(Especially if they're sponsored  :smt002) .
How the kayak is propelled falls into the same category.
Read it all, try a lot of different kayaks and sort it all out for yourself.
At the end of the day we still all bros.

I liked the thread.  I learned a lot of things about hobies and kayaks in general. Learned of issues I might expect at some point. Many issue do pertain now but I have more insight to kayak issues.  It was fine

I think your question is a good way to get some of the insight experience brings. Knowing why an experienced kayak fisherman chose a certain kayak could help us to pick a kayak with certain features we didn't know about, or didn't realize the importance of. Without the experience, even while sitting in a kayak otw we may not know everything to consider. I'll bet you get lots of helpful info.

I think the questions are great!  I understand why you posted the separate threads, but perhaps in doing so you irritated some who may feel that the questions are better answered through research and reading the 10,000 other kayak choice posts....
Personally I like the format you chose, and I'm often irritated ;)
I will say that in your case, it would be helpful to post your physical stats and any limitations you may have when asking the question, as how big and fit you are has a lot in determining what boats might be best for you.
keep calm and kayak on.

I thought that the premise of the questions were great and that the questions should be stickied at the top of each manufacturer subforum.  High time someone started those threads.

We're all compromised in one form or another...

Our little fishing machines are made of plastic and compromises.

Find the one the best matches your style of fishing. Write down what your priority list is and go from there.
