Bayside Marine at SC harbor if you're in the neighborhood.  Fisherman's Warehouse repairs I believe.  I've actually sat down and successfully disassembled and reassembled mine several times for cleaning and lubing.  No big deal if you have the exploded parts view.

yeah, ah well let's just say i gave it a go already and some springs went flying when i opened it up.  i need to bust out the microscope and image enhancer to get any information out of the exploded view chart that came with the reel.  is there a web site with some on-line guides to repair?

was riding my bike to work this morning and think i figured out why i couldn't find where 1 piece of the reel was supposed to go.  turns out that piece isn't part of the reel and was just some crap from the desk in the garage.  i think it came from one of my kid's toys i was 'fixing'.  well that's one less part i have to get working anyways...

alan, you beat me to it, I was going to post your link just now. the second one is my
abu bible!

we just concentrated on putting it back together with the parts in the right place, no
drag upgrade (I had a few sets from smooth drag, but eventually bought used reels
for all the sets,  :smt005) after it went back together without looking at your second post I felt
like I passed alan tani 101,  :smt002.

alan, have you seen the 5.3:1 stainless steel pinions you can get from dkstenson on ebay?
I have a couple of them, they are ultra cool. check them out if you get a chance, search
on dkstenson on ebay. There are some reviews from the UK fishing mags on them.
I just wish they came in left handed versions, and maybe a 6.3:1 version too.

we put it together, it is working, he'll get to the end of the season, but he's going to have to go by Ted lane in saratoga at the end of the season for carbon fiber drag, probably one new bearing if not two, etc, or study your excellent posts alan.
