Got a chance to take my yak out to lake amador today. Got to the lake around 11:00 AM, quite a few people for a Monday but now that I'm in a yak that doesn't matter to me anymore. Apparently you now have to "wear" a fishing permit wristband to prove that you're legit. Lake is down low so the ramp is down low. There were a good number of other watercraft in the water so for a while I just  tried throwing a 3" gulp minnow around standing timber. Nothing on that so I tried trolling an orange grub, nothing on that too so I beached up and soaked powerbait for a bit. Same old story so I put on a CD7 Firetiger Scatterrap and trolled around for a bit. Worked my way into and out of a cove and hooked up with my only fish of the day, a nice 16" trout. Lost that lure on a tree but I did manage to find 3 kastmasters to replace the lure I lost. Good luck to anyone who is planning on fishing here, it's not that there are no fish, it's that you just have to find the right combination of everything in order to catch them.

Nice report bentrods!  Amador sure is a fickle pickle!

Not sure how fast you were trolling, but when at Amador, make it slow.  And when you think you're going slow enough, slow it down some more.  :smt003

I see you tried orange grubs.  I've had good luck with white grubs.

Those scatter raps sure look good but haven't had success with them yet.  Knowing that you've had success with them will make me keep trying them.

Talking about slow, I forgot to mention that I also drifted a black wooly bugger for a while too. White is my go to color as well but I ran out and have yet to replace them, I've been splurging on striper lures for the past few months not caring about anything else. I love the action of the scatter raps, I've only tried the CD7 so far but I've caught trout with it at Collins and now at Amador, you just have to work them a little bit faster in order to get them to swim in a "S" pattern. It wasn't until I decided to go all out on the paddle that I got bit, wish that I had GPS so that I can know my speed. I'm sure we all have our own secrets to catching trout at Amador, thanks for sharing yours dilbeck.
