Dude that last grey pic gave me chills down my spine.  I don't think anyone can deny that is a huge fin.  Shark?  Who knows but I would say GWS.

Thanks Allen that is good reading..the color charts with months and travel routes is pretty cool---sobering for these months though a tad

My Gal has a app on her phone now..not as cool or helpful as we thought it would be but still fun

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/shark-net-predators-blue-serengeti/id542042032?mt=8

She is still trying to learn to navigate the app.It does appear to show White sharks pinging off all the Monterey bay buoy locations as of last nights attempts to use it...the app claims to show you which shark pinged a buoy, which buoy, and some info on each shark but we have not got that far yet and there may even be some site issues hurting our efforts , from  complaints we have read

great link Allen ,can't wait to show her it tonight
Thanks

funny story

I was talking to a buddy last night, who I gave some fillets to...talking about carpentry and other nonsense...guy standing there listening to us hears  me mention my shark sighting...and lights up like no ones business ...starts telling me about tagging along with a surfer friend off carmel beach two years ago...floating on his boogie board in 15- 20 f.o.w watching the surfing....under him swims a great white shark  just cruising along and keeps going...now I had also earlier heard the lovers point story on here in the shark shield thread ..that is now 2 stories in one day...but I aint done yet...
then I'm at walmart ,twenty minutes  after the boogie board story,in the returns line...see a friend returning stuff also and stand there chatting...talks to me about the fishing rod in my hand...says he tried to learn to scuba dive a few times few years back-learned through bamboo reef co.....I told him we have kayaks and  I have seen Rissos,whales-SHARKS!!!! the gal in front of us in line lights up...starts smiling and nodding-turns out here husband has "some metal motor boat" and they used to go out a lot...off the Aquarium 2 years back a -----okay you guess it??? winner winner...a GWS swam up to their boat...she then said we used to catch so many fish when we went there-there and off the hotel  :smt001
then I get in line at the same walmart 10 minutes later to check out and -here is the cover of this months time magazine on every checkout stand....HA!!!! the universe is having fun with me....
fuck it bro's I'm out the door for the first of three last days otw...woohoo...

Had a member here meet me in monterey and we took my extra fish-n-dive for his kin who came along too so that made three...got out by 830- and back by 130....SO much better ...like 75% over my shakes and scare factor...I actually had fun again and relaxed and let go of the encounter blues some more.....got some decnet lings..one hog...and some rocks...tons of 6" octopus which I stuck on a big hook with two big split shots and trolled slow..BAM!!!! got three lings in about 30 minutes then it cooled off...Ron got some decent ling too...nice day...like glass...warm...yep

might as well finish this thread out with my last day or two for the season since they fall right about a week and in the same spot from the encounter...went with another new member and met up with a seasoned yak angler from this site...slammin lings for me on live octopus...six caught with these two being the ones I kept
Calikid lands a nice vermillion on a sunny December day with Seaside Ca in the back ground...
No sign of my buddy GWS...BUT..talked with a couple who were diving right there in the open water ..maybe 80-100 f.o.w...they were just sightseeing not spearfishing ....mentioned my shark deal...they ssaid a few things which to me fit into this thread...
1.) they heard someone had spotted a great white last week here in the bay...I said"that was me"....then gave a quick rundown...they said no no no...this was 2 days ago right over the at the breakwater jetty, divers saw it underwater and reported a large GWS....I told her she was brave to dive out here..she said "why?" hahaha then she said,,,no no no...divers are safe"great whites dont like the sound our regulators make"...the male half of this diving pair was also adding tid bits...I asked them what their take on shark shield was...she said "not much"....said we in our kayaks are in danger-not them...-said we looked like sea lions when they were down there HA!!!..and surfers and those in 20-30 or less f.o.w.....before you paint a picture of these two..it is worth noting they had a very high end zodiac type set up...high end gear-and  a huge pro looking camera etc...they were very cool and described the lings and vermillion and the bottom terrain to Hector and I as we floated there...but as Hector and I made way I could not help thinking about the regulator noise-shark shield she had her faith in...

Craig,

I been scuba diving more than 20 years and feel safer scuba diving underwater than floating on the surface.
Kayakers, surfers and free divers spend most of their time on the surface. Scuba divers generally spend only a short period on the surface. I also free dive and kayak fish.

Regulators noise is caused by the divers breathing pattern and the bubbles that are released when exhaling. I've seen dozens of sharks while diving and they have all avoided me. When I spearfish I often hold my breath while stalking fish so that the bubbles don't scare them off. While doing so I don't change depth because that would be very hazardous to my health.

I've also been scuba diving and have mistaken people on the surface for seals and turtles because all you see is their silhouette.

I think the regulator noise helps sharks in detecting a sea lion vs scuba diver more than anything.

After all they are the apex predator and if they want to eat you they will.

no way man...if someone here go big balls first and makes/starts a thread on U.F.O sightings stories then I will tag up base...but I already am a loose cannon here and that thread could push me over the interent edge...I would never be able to post anything again with out being U.F.OCraig...is that gonna be my new handle..it's does roll off the tuonge now dont it....Here we have so many who spend time out doors a ton...I know folks have seen our space brothers and sisters...

here is a teaser to get someone else to start the thread
