Considering this recipe for hand-harvested mussels taken somewhere in the 650 this weekend.
I called CDPH and DFG hotlines for domoic and PSP, nothing notable in their pre-recorded messages.

Anyone know of a reason not to go flex some mussels this weekend?

dang, may have to wait an additional week.  just barely negative tides on 10th/11th, but falling mid-day.
first time out, so no place in mind.  googled "pescadero tide chart" = first hit, www.surf-forecast.com for bean hollow  :smt044

Sunday 12/11 has a good minus tide in the early afternoon.  That would be a good day.  I'm considering going clamming that day but if this cold blast from Alaska lingers through that weekend, I may be mussel-ing too.

Hit up south side of Davenport Landing beach

Always good accessibility

No minus Tide is particularly needed, just low

Since low tides are in the evening now, you might catch a beautiful sunset too!

Harvest from rocky areas..    Mussels harvested from areas near beaches will have sand in them.

Grayhound rock,   Pidgeon Point are a couple good areas.

I've got a mussel stew recipe made using Gran Marnier...   will share if I can find it....

OK Antonio ,,, here's another one for you. Found it,, scanned it,,, now I outta cook it again someday.    It's an alternative to a clam chowder.   Seems every time I show up at a NCKA event I've not been able to cook this dish as the mussels are out of season..    " R months" are good for avoiding demoic  ( usually )

   I'm thinking Crab,, mussels, = Cioppino    :smt002

Sounds tasty, I bet it's worth the work.

I've been wanting to do a mussel chowder with uni cream for a while now.

Thanks for sharing Jim.

That's interesting for this time of year,, scallops on the list too.       I wonder how those tests compare  from  Moss Landing,  vs  Pebble Beach coast line.

HMB has a green light. Did a solo trip on Monday for a limit. Then did a simple recipe and ate them on Tuesday.  :smt001

Kids trip on Saturday.  PM CDM or myself if you want to go with your kid saturday afternoon (yes, you need a kid to go with us!), low tide is just after sunset, so we'll have time to work it before it gets dark.
