There is a small craft launch at the end of Green Island Rd in American Canyon. it is free and there is a paved parking lot, two picnic tables and a pit toilet. There is a gate at the entrance, but I don't know if it is ever locked or not. I had the opportunity to check it out at low tide today. The tide was a .9 ft tide, so it would be even lower durning a minus tide. I took photos right at low tide. From the looks of things it is not useable with the water down that low. The "natural" launch is above the water line and the boat ramp is as well. The mud in the area is very soft and it would probably be impossible to get out and stand up in the mud to pull your kayak up out of the water. You would probably end up in it half way up your calf and stuck there until you got help. So if you want to use this launch you should time it so you have a tide no lower than 3 ft, maybe more, so you can get up onto the stable footing. Also the ramp is pretty steep and very slippery.

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
