Theres a couple different versions. I like the NRS the best but am curious if they are flexible enough to peddle the mirage drive. There is also the kokatats which look weird to me, but its not about how they look. Theres an expensive company I cant remember too i saw & liked. Up in Tahoe theres nowhere even remotely close to demo these products so any comments, suggestions, experience, jokes etc greatly appreciated thanks

For cold weather look at the Chotas. The kokatat nomads are ok too just not as insulated. I love the Chotas. The only drawback is that if water goes on over the gaiter they don't dry fast at all.

+1 on NRS boundary boots. 7mm neoprene. Plenty of flex and comfortable on my mirage drive.  I usually wear these under my fj wetsuit pant legs to try and stay dry in shallow water.  Even if u step a little deeper the cuff keeps water out.

The chotas are the expensive ones i was talking about i think. Im really leaning towards the NRS.. 7mm and the cuff at the top seem sierra winter appropriate... Snag some tempest gear and im set....  Great info so far thx

I paid $75.00 for my Chotas almost 15 years ago, and love them! That's $5.00 a year - cheap!

I'm on my second pair of NRS boots and really like them. Mine are the workboot sole on the neoprene bootie upper. They have really worked well for me the past 2 years. I think they were about $70 IIRC.

My previous pair had the zipper blow out long before the boots themselves were noticeably worn. I heard that NRS got some negative feedback for their cheap zippers. The pair I am using now have a few upgrades over the old version, and the zippers have held up fine, even in beach sand. I wear them with a thin neo sock.

I replaced a pair of the NRS boots with Kokatat boots and have been disappointed.  The Kokatats that I have don't have a zipper and they're really hard to get on and off which tends to make my drysuit "socks" bunch up uncomfortably.  I have used both with the mirage drive and both are fine.  I wouldn't trade my Kokatat Gortex drysuit for anything but the booties are just not well designed.  The quality seems good but the absence of a zipper is a mistake.

Martin. I bought a pair of the Nomads two years ago and they had an issue with the upper and lower part of the boot that is stiched together being too small. The remedy was to give me a new pair.

My feet have never been so warm and well protected as they are in a big giant pair of Boggs.

Don't know if they'd work for the "paddling challenged" though...   :smt003

NRS work booties are my second choice - great sole that takes lots of abuse.

As i suspected the nomads dont look like they are the ones for me. So its down to the chotas and the NRS. I hate cheap zippers, but i like the boot...  Tough decision all feedback greatly appreciated. It seems like the Chotas have some nonyak use potential... Anyone else back the chotas up?

I got my daughter a pair of Boggs Eric shes got them on right now... Shes 5 & wears them more then her Uggs.... Great boot

I have the NRS Boundry Boot, my third pair, but that's not a positive, first pair leaked on the third outing, second pair leaked on the first outing, third pair is OK so far but I'm usually so wet by the time the days over that even the third pair might be leaking a bit.  I almost always at some point during a launch get the water up over the cuff so I'm not sure of the water tightness, the first 2 did leak significantly tho.  NO problem with returns, NRS is no hassle.

I like the boot though, but if your looking for something to keep your feet "100% dry" and warm I'd try something else.

I've been looking at the Chota lace Mukluks for sturgen fishing but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Ive been looking at the Chota lace ups too... The most common review of the NRS seems to be leakage, all the kayak clothing companies seems to have great customer service { nrs, kokatat, stohlquist, etc) but in a boot i really want a great product... Tahoe & the Sierras are pretty unforgiving... If theres a weakness itll find it.... Really appreciate all the comments

Martin - I've been using NRS Paddle Water Shoes for a while and very happy with them.  I use them with my drysuit, the zipper is real nice, its prevents your sock from bunching up.  I own the older model and NRS released a newer model.

I use the same boots. The new ones are really cool looking. They squared off the toe and reduced the overall size a little. Remover to size up according to what you ware on ur feet. IE dry pants and socks, wool socks, stocking foot waders. Ect. I use a wool sock under my dry suit socks then the NRS paddle wet shoe.
