Yes. No way to avoid dangling at times. I wonder if Raptor owners need to dangle as much as Caribbean owners.

I do dangle from time to time but i never hang fish over the side where seals can grab them. I just keep them covered with a wet gunny sack in the back.

Last year at Shelter Cove I pulled a greenling away from a big hitchhiker ling and he grabbed the end of my foot out of frustration. When I shook him off my foot he grabbed the ling I had hanging. It was hilarious. Man I love lings.
