I am looking to buy a few crab traps for my kayak and was wondering if anybody had any suggestions for brands and styles they like. I was thinking collapsible for storage sake but I'm also open to non-collapsible. Thanks for any input. :smt001

Promar 102W's and Danielson's!  If you do a search on here for these two traps, you will find TONS of information.

Thanks man, I think I'm gonna go with a couple of those promars. The area I am gonna be fishing is 50-65 ft deep. How much extra rope and weight should I have on there? I was thinking 20' should do it for the rope and maybe a few extra single pound wights in the trap.

I use the Danielson's. I fish in the 50-75 foot depths. I run 90 feet of rope and zip tie a brick to the bottom.

I like the Promar 102W as they are lighter than the Danielsons. I havent had to add any weight just some giant squid as bait. I use leaded line.

I use 102 with a an old 5lb weight zip tied inside, and hoop rings.  The rings keep me busy while the 102 gets the log soak.  Not so useful when you want to go rock fishing in between.  Don't go to crazy at first, try a couple out and see how they feel to you.  Pulling a 102 full of crabs or seaweed, can be a real chore.
