I prefer the extra long butt on rods so that if I have a heavy one on I can rest the butt against my seat like a fighting belt.

This is a highly interesting concept that I need to look into next time I'm on my kayak!

Thanks for that gem.

Abu 6500c3 plus rod - $99:

I'm actually going to go try the 7' rod tomorrow, but it feels like just the ticket for bigass diamond jigs/hex bars to about 12 oz.   The butt length seems perfect. It's a 1 piece though.

I've been using a 6' 6" Catera/Intrepid MH rod, with 6" cut off the tip for my heavy jig work. I just don't feel like it's up for big fish though. But at $29 it sure was reasonably priced. Put a used 5500 on it from ebay, and you could be fishing for about $65 altogether.

That looks like a good deal.

That rod is IM7 which is enough modulous for me.

Too bad I don't need a new rod right now, but that would be a good general purpose inshore rod in my opinion.

That looks like a real good deal thinking about it more.
