Second time on the salt, landed a great ling. Just over 29 inches weighing in at 9.5 lbs. Met a fellow NCKA member Fishjogger whom was very informative. Thanks Dan at headwaters in lodi for setting us up for the salt! This picture is per your request.

Nice fish man!  Now that you have the yak and the knowledge, it's time to ditch the sweat pants and moccasins!  :smt002

LOL! No worries, Deva is a great guy and am stoked you got to meet him out on the water!!  :smt004

I'm not one to preach, but I think what Ben beenfishin was getting at was that sweats and moccasins aren't the best clothing options for being out on the ocean...not for style points, but for safety...the concept of "dress for immersion" is one that a lot of people take seriously and with good reason...

We just like seeing reports and pics and if your yak sinks and you go in and get hypothermia and die=no more fish porn for us.  :smt002

Everyone on here can make their own decisions for themselves, but just something to think about...

Congrats again on the nice fish!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

I was in the same situation until recently. I'm looking forward to going back out with a wetsuit, VHF radio, whistle, etc.

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

No worries amigos, if you hit up Dan and have been on this site you guys are all on the right track.  Hell, my first time yakfishing I had on my Carhartt's and a hoodie.  Again, nice catch and keep the fish porn coming!  :smt001

Nice one!  Thanks for sharing...

I'm looking forward to getting out on the salt too (still getting all my gear together though... hope my wetsuit I wore 20 years ago still fits... LOL).  You paddlin' a Cuda 14?
