Fish Junky and I decided late last night to try the port in the morning.  Junky slept in!!!!  So I went anyway.  I stopped at Penny’s for some jumbo minnows but they had none so I tried some jumbo dead shad on the drift.  I launched at 7:15 and went to work trolling out to the basin.  I tried drifting the big shad where I had done well in the past with live minnows but couldn’t find any takers.  I set about trolling a deep diver on my downrigger set at 20 feet.  When I got past the cement plant I hooked up.  The fish towed me around for a while but I managed to get him on the Boga…….10#’s on the nose and the full length of the Hawg Trough.   I revived him and he’s swimming around out there right now.  I ended the day at noon because the wind was making it sloppy out there.  A few photos for your approval…

Saw these guys on the water.  Didn't get to speak to them but could be NCKA members????

The 10 pounder "maxing out" the Hawg Trough!

Heading back in.  Met a guy at the ramp with 2 salmon he caught at the locks.  Kinda dark but looked to be in the 12-15 pound range and probably put up a good fight.

Here's my weapon of choice.....Walleye Runner from Cabelas.

i just picked up those "walley runner crankbaits " as well. i just got them in this evening so i think i will give those a try. were you using those for striper or salmon? because they didn't seem big enough for salmon.. but what do i know.

Stripers.  The salmon are going for jigs in the port and you can still catch them in the river on Kwikfish or Silvertrons but they are looking a little tired by now.  Try them with a worm tail.
