Any worries that the whales would make contact with the kayak?

Howard my heart was pounding.  A few boats have been bumped lately.  I figured if I went swimming, so what?  Just tried to keep the camera steady and remember to breath.

Here is a cool shot taken by my buddy Giancarlo Thomae who was one the guys out on the blue yaks.

I would DEFINITELY have that blown up, framed and mounted proudly on my wall.
It doesn't get any better.

Ha ha thanks guys. Actually it DOES get better!!  (not much better, but I gotta put this up on KFM later today)

When he showed me that pic at the bait shop, in his camera, my knees went weak.  Sorta like Chris Matthews listening to Barak Obama "A thrill went up my leg"

Same reason as the whales being there.  Tons of bait!!  Feeding frenzy with birds, sea lions and humpbacks, and who knows what else underwater. that's why I kept a swimbait out, just in case alocal web came cruising by, or a big butt or something.  I hooked no fish.

Sheesh, those were babies.  Wake me when you dance with blues.

Just kidding. That last photo puts it all in perspective. If not for the Predator's elevated seat and your Kokatat stovetop, you would have been blotted out. What an experience!
