Didn't even know what a turmeric is until this thread.  So off to food 4 less earlier to get ingredients.  Making it after the game.  Wii post pics later :smt003
I didn't either still don't bought all the ingredients making a batch now.

How big of jar you guys using?my jars only 24oz no way it's all gonna fit.

It won't fit.  You can probably use 1/2 the pickling recipe and 6 eggs in a 24oz jar.  I've been using the full recipe and a dozen eggs in a 2-quart jar, and there is room to spare.

Shit!! I just blew this recipe worse than the broncos did the Super Bowl. I fit 8 eggs all spices and vinegar about a dozen peppers with no water. Into my jar.
I guess on the upside I can redeem myself next week instead of next year.

I'm using a half gallon pickle jar.  Found big jars of Mezetta peppers in Walnut Grove last weekend for next batch--32 oz.  Here is the finished product.  Will try to attach but always have trouble!

There's got to be a better way to get pickling spice. I bought the same McCormick as you at $5. We'll be lucky to get 3 batches from that.

Are you guys refrigerating the eggs? I didn't get sick but I did do a quick check online and found a lot of articles mentioning that they should be refrigerated.

Seems like the Vinegar would keep al the bad things away but I don't know.  I threw out about 6 eggs just because I didn't want to take the chance. I stored them on the counter for about a month.

Again, I didn't get sick but just thought I'd bring it up.

The eggs are delicious though, just gotta mess with the recipe a bit.

Eggs In!!!
I read about refrigeration too.
I will let these cure in the fridge and a little longer than the 2 days specified on the recipe.

Yes, that.  And each batch was gone within 2 weeks.

I have not refrigerated mine.  Still have some from the original batch when I first started this thread, (3 months ago) and just ate one the other day.  I am pretty certain no bacteria can survive in that brine.

To be safe just listen for a hiss when opening, and keep an eye out for bulging lids.  That's a sure sign things went wrong.

Also, as noted, the brine can be reused.

A tip...  the eggs will sink and the peppers float, so it's easier to get an egg out of you invert the jar and shake it first.

I've been picking a lot of stuff and it's a blast.  The eggs were a gateway drug.  Preserving food is awesome.

I just drop some into a jar of pickles after some of the pickles are gone. Not bad.
