I want to buy or borrow a PFD for this weekend's crab opener in HMB. I'm 5'6", 165 lbs (on a good day).

I've been lurking here long enough and need to take the plunge. I got my car, roof rack, wetsuit, and can now bum my buddy's spare kayak (thanks Won :) ) but I still need a PFD. Anyone have one I can buy or borrow by this weekend? I'd like something on the cheap side if it's a buy, since I'm not sure this is my new hobby. I live in San Jose and can meet up as well.

Thanks!

- Dan

if you dont use a REAL GOOD PFD...you dont need to worry about anything in your future.  :smt009
Your PFD is the most important piece of equipment you use.

Thanks for the tip, can't say I disagree with any cautions related to safety

Do not buy a PFD because it is cheap. Buy one that fits you and is comfortable to wear while paddling/fishing. A PFD must fit you well to help you stay afloat. I have seen people slip out of ill fitting PFDs. A PFD must also be comfortable to wear all day, so you will less likely to take it off while on the water, which defeats the purpose of owning a PFD.

Thanks for the tip Krusty.

Rereading my post, I think it was poorly worded . I'm not looking for a cheap PFD as much as not wanting to buy new for my first time out. I have no reservations about spending whatever I have to for what's the most basic safety gear on the boat (other than making good decisions).  :smt004
