I knew I was missing some other key points.   :smt001  Scott, can you take down the AI mast with no tramps installed or would you need at least one tramp installed in order to pull that off OTW?

Jim -

You dont need tramps to take the mast down or install. Just cowboy up to the bow and give it a big bear hug. I've done it several times to fix my wind indicator or turn the light off. There were 2 times AI's got into trouble this year trying to head directly into wind in high wind. If they had taken the mast down and folded the amas in, they probably wouldn't have needed to be towed. The good news is that resale on the hobie sail and sidekicks is high and I have the saw to cut the hole for the AI mast receiver, so when you decide to join your Island brothers... :smt003

Can you roll the sail with batten in?
I just purchased new to me hobie mirage classic, with a DIY sail rig including hard (plastic) amas. The owner took the Hobie batten out so he could roll the sail, but you guys with rolling sails, does the batten roll up or what? This appears to be 10' mast with hobie fathead sail on it, single batten, angled upward at approximately 30 degrees to vertical...

Can't jam those amas in any of the onboard storage, tho....
