What size did you get? I ordered a 24" sock from a kayak shop, but they started carrying another brand and only had an 18". They sent that to me and said if I wanted to send back I could.  I use it, but wish I had a larger one.  I think I will order a 38". Make sure you use it on a quick release with a float so you can find it if you drop it in an emergency. Also use on a trolley to get it to the rear of your kayak.

I got a small (26") Since my yak is 10'.
I'm actually contemplating buying a bigger one but still not sure. I'll see how this one performs first.
I was wondering about where to position it on my yak. Thanks for the tips on the quick release and the trolly. If you have some pics of your set up that would be a great referance for me.
I actually took my yak out to Anderson about 2 weeks ago and ended up with one baby bass on a crank bait. Drift was to fast so this should help me out for future trips.

Search QRAS for trolley suggestions. I use this one: http://www.austinkayak.com/products/1294/ACK-Anchor-Trolley-Kit.html

Last time I did this I bought the pulleys separate from an online source. A little cheaper, but not much by the time you get cord etc. don't use the well nuts. If you can't through bolt it use the good rivets.

You will also need a clam cleat to hold the line once it is out.

I've used the west Marine kit before & it works well.  I know I donated one to the last PIF @ HMB.  Not sure who won it ... Guitarzan maybe?

Nice - I ordered the smallest drift sock from Cabela's a few years ago - they don't mention that the small one (blue color) does NOT come with the extra cord used to pull/fold the drift sock when reeling it in... no biggie, took some extra cord and tied my own on, added a float in the middle of the rope to keep it from dipping in low wind, tied it off to keep it about 6 feet away from the kayak for fishing/tangling purposes. It's been AWESOME in the wind...

I have the small and it's not enough in strong winds.  What is strong winds?  Last winter's crab tournament at Bodega-strong.  While crabbing there, I tossed it over to slow the wind drift.  I still drifted but not quite as fast as if I had nothing out there.  I do have the Hobie PA14, so that might have been part of it, but I'd recommend at least the next size up.

If you are wanting to control a strong wind drift, get a big(ger) one than the small.
