Got there way late… like on Sunday at 09:30 :smt001 But found some of the leftovers at Glens Spot! ThankBro! for the fish! And thanks ChuckE for the Breakfast Porage, Yummy! Fishmaster1; thats the first time we didn't drink a beer together , Hahaa, but at least we shared a man hug :smt003 Ghost; I like you'r new rig :smt023 Looks really comfortable. And for all the other NCKA Brothers and Sisters that i didn't get to chill with…Next time :smt001

tried my two hours trying to long line a salmon but no luck today,  so went to plan "B" and purchased on of these.

With the cod Glen gifted me and the Albacore i purchased, I managed to take a cooler full of some fish! :smt003

That was so much dang fun!  Highlights for me were learning to throw my net finally, although no anchovies were around, (I did get a couple small perch so I know it works), and riding Ariel's crazy contraption.

Food was crazy delicious, as usual.  The wild pig n potatoes...  Chuck's pansit!  Tiny pie!  Tony's wife's pecan pie without the goo!  Rich's bacon wrapped venison jalapeno bombs!  FisHunter pasta salad with homegrown tomatoes.  Ariel's famous pork bellies!  Keil's bbq....  Jeeez... It was just silly.  Everytime I thought I was done I couldn't help myself and it would start all over again.  And then there were banana lumpia with nutella and whipped cream.  I think I have a problem.

Mooch woulda loved every second.

I am so blessed to have such a wonderful core group of friends that share both in my joys and my sorrows. We all lost a dear friend a year ago and all of you coming together yesterday to help honor and celebrate his life is a tribute to the love and compassion we have as a community.

Joel was special to all of us and I sincerely hope that he felt the love we share at one of his favorite places to chill. And “Chill” we did! I think fishing took a back seat to the chill portion, but that’s how it always is at all Mooch’s “Fish & Chills”; just kicking back, enjoying each others company, reminiscing about the past and enjoying great food.

As others had mention, food just kept appearing on the table; wave after wave, it kept coming…. Never could remember when I ate so much in one afternoon or at any event. Thank you all for an awesome potluck spread!

Btw: one of the advantages of hosting a potluck, all the kickbacks you get at your camp! No Host Margarita drinks from Hobie-Dave, Double-Chocolate Cup from Tiny, you own pack of Shang-hi lumpia from Pee-Pee, Garlic Mash Potatoes togo from Craig, fudge brittle for Bunny, Imported Chocolates from Sonny & Faith and all the sampling that went on before the food ever hit the table; some never even made it to the table!!!

Into the evening, folks gathered at varies different locations and as I walked between all the groups and ease dropped on conversations, it was apparent what impact Joel had  on our lives by bringing us all together; both when he was with us and even after he left.

He will forever be apart of me and I strongly look forward to seeing him again…

Special thanks to Sharky for generosity in taking the Rachel and her family on the water; may Mooch bless you with calm seas and generous bounties for you kindness.

Thank you to those who donated and participated in the Silent Auction and Fund Raiser for Joel’s Charity; it’s a great start to fulfilling his dream charity.

To my HAC brothers, thanks all your help and support!

Again, thank you all for a unforgettable weekend; and may Joel be smiling down you for days to come!

(i took some pictures, but I'll post them tomorrow; I going to sleep :smt003)

Was great to meet and fish with some of you guys in person on Saturday. Thanks to everyone who made all that seriously delicious food - and I just caught the afternoon appetizers. The main course sounds like it was phenomenal. I'm just a newcomer, but I can already see that the camaraderie of this group is strong!
Thanks fish!

Looked like another great NCKA event. Just reading this made me miss my friend Joel. I can't believe a year has gone by already.

Glen thanks for putting on the event and sorry I could not join y'all but the commute would have killed me; coming from Texas.

Great to see all your smiling faces.  :smt003

Awesome report and pictures thanks

next year it is on our  time off schedule!!
