Does anyone know about crappie fishing on Hogan res.?  Any tips on where on the water to target these fish?  I've been on the water trolling for striper but I've heard crappie fishing is good as well.

I haven't heard about the closure for this reservoir, but it makes sense if it Corps of Engineers. I know Melones is closed. I won't be up there for a few more weeks due to a very busy schedule, but will post anything that happens.

I've hit a few in Whiskey Creek in the spring when the water is up. Never had any luck in the fall, but usually targetting striper boils at this time. If the lake is closed, you still might be able to access the lake in the Whiskey Creek arm at the southern end of the lake. If Whiskey Creek Rec. Area is also closed you can access the lake where Hogan Dam Rd crosses Whiskey Creek.
There is no PB launch at this end of the lake and the water level influences the ease of launching from the road access. Good luck and look forward to your report.

Just heard today from a couple of guys that drove up there that Hogan is closed down not even able to park on road and walk in :smt010

On my way home from the ar I saw one of the rentals house boats tied up in a cove just off the 49 bridge first I thought someone must have cut it loose from its slip and went for a joy ride. I'm thinking it must be some government employee that's still getting a pay check having the whole lake to them selves all while collecting overtime.
