Hard to contemplate the most thoughtful words at a time like this....but I do know he was on Earth for a relatively short period of time, but the things he did in that short time influenced so many others, touched so many people,.....No sum of money, no titles or property can top Joel's accomplishment.
Well done my friend...well done.
I feel lucky to have known you and to be considered a friend.

Don't really know what to add that hasn't already been said.  Can only hope to honor his memory by living life with the kindness and positivity he showed us all.

Rest easy, Joel.

My family and I echo the same thoughts as others on this site.  We are happy that Joel is no longer suffering, but are very sad that he is gone.  Rest in Peace brother.

I never met him but from the responses it's my loss as he sounds like one heck of a guy. Rest in peace and may the waves up there be light.

My deep condolences to the family that he left behind. A very sad day in NCKA for sure. It was only a few days ago on my way to work that i saw him driving his "man van" towards HmB. I waved, he nodded and that was it. You will forever be missed, Joel. You rest now brother!

Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night. Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight, And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way, Do not go gentle into that good night. Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - See more at: http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/15377#sthash.yC2jO4K3.dpuf

I think this a great poem that can only sum up slightly a bit of Joel. Even though I knew him little. He definetly had the candle burning bright when you met him and he did what we all would like to do when it is nearing are time. Joel, you are the who brought me into the NCKA. For that I truly thank you!

Through the PIF's in your honor, you turned a group of fishermen into a Brotherhood.  You changed an online forum into something special.

You miraculously came back from the brink so you could greet and smile with your brothers. Going beyond with the same style that you lived your life.

You're probably already fishing in heaven where the fish are bigger, stronger and always catchable.  Where the launches are always exciting and the landings smooth.

Ride the waves in peace my brother.

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.

Saw this thread earlier this morning and I have a hard time still believing it.

I would like to echo the same sentiments as the rest of the group.  As I sit here with a heavy heart, all I can think about is the impact that Joel has had on me in the short time I've known him.  I hope someday I can live up to his standards and be half the person he was.

Joel will be missed but NEVER forgotten!

Thank you Mooch.  I hope to meet up with you again on the other side.

Bret

Not much more can be said here. He was a great person who touched upon all of us in some way. I can only feel that he was extremely lucky as we were to have him as a friend. He was able to go out in style having so many friends that were around to help him out through this difficult part of his life. I am still amazed that there are so many great people on this site and continue to do all they can for anyone in need. Mooch strong will be a part of me for the rest of my life!
