When converting a lure from a treble hook to a single or putting a lure together the need for a good reliable snap ring plier is essential.  A while back ago, my National Guard Crew had to rebuild a tent.  In the repiar kits (this one that was the tents could be joined together to give you a really large tent).  The tent in question had been previously put up by some people who didn't know what they were doing, and low and behold snapped a bunch of support rods (geodoetric style tent).  Any way this tent had a four repair kits with it, and we proceed to lay it out go to town to repair it.  Two kits had American Made Xuron snap ring pliers, and two had some MIC POS (made in china piece of s@#t).    I found the Xurons to be well made, and liked them so much, I pulled out my handy leaders notebook wrote the model# down and went home after drill and bought a set on Amazon.  Since then I have converted everything from tiny 1/8 once Kastmasters over to single barbless for National Park duty, to larger Salmon spinners and spoons with no problems.  Now for the best part, they are made in Maine.  Which may not mean anything to a Californian, but having Mainers in my family it means a lot as Mainers still have a great sense of pride in what they make, and the company stands behind their product.  Why settle for a  MIC POS when you can have something that works!

I hate to be a pain, but thruout your post you say "snap-ring" pliers, so I'm a straight line thinker and I'm wondering how "snap-ring" pliers would work?  I'm thinking split rings for hooks.

Then I see you meant split-ring pliers.

So with my anal retentive brain I thank you, as trying to use split rings for me is a pain, never thinking I could just buy the right tool for the job.

Another thing to buy, but something that will save me pain and frustration.

I know what you mean about MIC POS.  When our nursery opened in 1973, we bought used steel pipe for the heating system.  US made and at least 20 years old when we got them.  They are still fine.  Every once in a while we damage a pipe and I replace it with brand spankin new pipe.  Mostly Asian made, we can't get US steel easily from local suppliers.  The new pipe generally springs a leak within 3 years.

Wort part is, most of the steel being recycled in the US heads to Asia for them to reclaim into new steel.

Sorry Slit ring pliers, I developed a habit of refering to them as snap ring a while ago, after I got pinched by a few of them.

I think I need to get a pair of these. I was just placing hooks on some F3 Repalas and that was a serious pain. At $12 that s nice price also.
