Good shots Paul - Down here in SD, I don’t often get the chance to fish reds without weights but when I do fish the shallow rockfish with light tackle and lures it is as exciting a fishing as you get.

Why are the green rocks special? Do the locals there claim they hold some kind of magical power or are they some kind of valued gemstone?

John that stone is called "Jade".  Everyweekend you can see people walking along the beaches looking for Jade.  I'm yet to find any, the only stones I get are the saphire (soap stones) ones.  Sometimes people don't want to search by the beach so instead they go to places with a nice aroma and pleasant sounds.  Like this guy.

new camera?

Nope, same one I had in Colonet. It's a good one though, if bulky in that huge EWA Marine bag. Canon Digital Rebel XT.

Steve and Pat, please let me know if you received your photos.

Beautiful pics. Big Sur's beauty is unlike any other place on the California coast.

Nice photographs. Some of those are really great for posters if the resolution allows.

What an awesome trip you guys had, nice save on the fishing rod scallen.  Yes, the pictures are awesome, can't wait for summer to be over, I'm hoping to reserve a campsite at lime kiln in sept after school is back in.  Only went once this year in rough conditions with no sleep.  Thanks for the great report.  JTF..

Great pics. Looks like a great time.  I hope to get down there some time.  Allen I too hope you catch a halibut by Christmas.

thanks jason.  I cleaned out the reel tonight.  Not too bad but that sand from Mill Creek is like little boulders.  Luckily, I remembered not to turn the handle of the reel before taking it apart....  If only I would have remembered to ALWAYS detach my paddle leash before landing!

The Newell 220 felt so good after I cleaned, greased drag washers,  and re-lubed it, I just went ahead and went through my other 220.  Now they are both tip-top.  Just in time for albacore!!

Peter and chefstefano , thank you for the replies.   My very first thought was Jade but I associate Jade only with the far east and assumed it must be something else.

Makes me wonder if something in the water makes the Jade that unique shade of green or vice versa.

Your art is beautiful and is sure to make some lucky angler very happy.  Wish I could be there to compete for it but there is always next year.

Awesome trip lady and gents. Killer photos; thanks for sharing.

Allen was on fire in SC even though the bite was off on Fri. He mentioned this trip, but I had it pictured as a rollercoaster ride as conditions weren't looking to good.

I am glad the seas layed down a bit and afforded you all some close to the rocks fishing.

I have yet to fish the Big Sur area, and hear I am missing some place special. The pictures reassure that. Thanks for adding to my fishing urge and priority list of places to hit.
