Lowance customer service.

I recently won a handheld Lowrance VHF/GPS unit, and I was really excited about trying it out. On my first radio check it was obvious that the radio was messed up, as the transmit button and some menu selection buttons didn't work.  I called customer support, shipped the unit back and six weeks later got this in the mail.......

9/20 update.  Lowrance overnighted the handheld vhf, and it arrived today (less then 48 hours after I called).

We can mount that on the kayak but its going to drain the battery pretty quick
If you don't need it turn it in to a base station radio. Mount it on a box with a deep cycle and a big antenna. Leave it on shore at events with the event organizer to use for emergencies or event updates. A dedicated radio that can reach everyone might be useful during our freshwater lake events.

I could do that.. then again I wouldn't be able to receive any of the aforementioned event updates, cuz I need a friggin handheld vhf 

    AND it took only 6 weeks.                   I'd be pissed too.   

 I was just about ready to buy the Lowarance FF.    Looks like I'm going with Hummingbird.

I will call customer service today. I hope they make it right.  Which fish finder were you looking at?

Seriously, I had a pretty quick turn around on my recent Lowrance FF failure. They should expedite a new unit to you as this is obviously an embarassment for them.

ATD  If you run into any further issues, please feel free to drop me a line.  I'm having lunch with one of the Lowrance staff members today.  I'll be sure to bring this up!  Based on what I hear, the turn around is usually VERY fast.  Sounds like there was a mixup of some sort.

Man, I had the opposite experience with Lowrance. My new Elite-5 was (only sometimes, like 2%) having trouble tracking the bottom. I called them and they were practically throwing a brand new unit at me. I had it in less than a week!

The Link-2 handheld VHF is $200. Not a bad trade.

CL or sniffer that thing. Buy a radio you want and pocket a few for your trouble. Sounds like that would be your fastest turn around.

  Adam contact cs again, obviously there was a mix up. I'm sure they will make it right. I have an extra radio if you need to borrow till they get you squared away. Its not like I'm going to be using anytime soon. Mike

Well, Lowrance made good.  I just got home and there was a handheld radio sitting on the doorstep.
