ha!  :smt005  well, if they really do drain lex, all these fish are toast anyway, but you'd think they wouldn't
need to really drain the whole thing. I guess we'll see. If I was them, I'd wait to the very end of the summer
before I drained it tho, when it was already low, so maybe we have some time.

btw, on the wind thing. there is wind when the fog layer ends at lex. if that is not the case, it's windy, but not
out of control. I have fished it several times with really no wind to speak of.

this formula extends to the oneill forebay. if the layer goes into the santa clara valley but not the central valley,
then it's super windy at the forebay. if it's clear in santa cruz, then it's windy there, but okay at lex and the
forebay.  the wind zone kind of moves in an out with the edge of the marine layer. or at least this is my newest
working hypothesis.

In the coming weeks San Jose Water Company (SJWC) will be conducting the Lexington Pipeline Replacement Project within Lexington Reservoir. If you commute over Highway 17, you may have noticed the black pipes near the eastern shoulder of the highway north of Bear Creek Road as you make your way into Los Gatos. These pipes make up the almost 2 miles of a water transmission pipeline that convey raw water to the Montevina Water Treatment Plant. Although the new pipeline will eventually reside on the reservoir’s bottom, it must first be deployed onto the reservoir and into clear view of commuters.

Beginning on July 31, 2006, barges and small boats required to deploy the pipeline onto the reservoir will be mobilized to the project site. Deployment of the pipeline will begin at the dam and the pipeline will initially be positioned (floated) on the west side of the reservoir as it makes its way towards the southern end of the reservoir. It is expected that approximately 400 to 500 feet will be deployed each day onto the reservoir surface.

Once deployed, the pipeline will be placed into a predetermined alignment and pressure tests will be conducted to ensure the pipe’s integrity. To complete the project, SJWC will sink the pipeline, complete the necessary tie-ins to existing pipes at the southern end of the reservoir, and demobilize from the site.

The project will last approximately nine weeks starting July 31. Working hours are expected to be Monday through Friday, from 7am to 7pm (we may also work Saturdays). The reservoir will be closed to public access starting on September 5, 2006, so that the pipe can be placed in its final alignment. This is necessary to ensure the safety of the public as well as that of the workers.

Please contact me if you have questions or need additional information about this project.

As I was leaving I marked the schools farther out towards lmouth of the cove and the lake at about 25 ft deep. My guess is they feed shallow early and flee deeper to avoid teh light of mid-day. They tarried longer in the shallow end of the cove because fo the overcast. I amkred similar schools in the lake as close as 50 yards off the launch ramp, but the wind and white caps made fishing for them nearly impossible. Next time I'll have to try my drift chute to see if that helps.

sealion nailed a big striper right next to me, scared the bejeebus out of me.

tons of boats off of san g. looks like a killer day to rockfish deep.

are we talking the first and largest arm to the left?
jmairey,I am missing the Pomponio surf.I need to go and look for those kind of conditions and remember that, just because its windy as hell here doesn't mean it is there :smt010 Thanks for the hidden surf report :smt006

I'm sure they were right there.  I fished a bunch of big bass lures back in that cove and the crappie ignored them.

There is a TON of bait back there and I guarantee the crappie aren't going anywhere untill that bait vacates.

The number of crappie back there is ridiculous.  Go git em while the gettin's good!!!
