I'd do the same as if a sea lion were after my fish...
Halibut, I'd reel faster.  Don't want to lose any meat.
Salmon or Striper - freespool and let it run in most cases.

After I soiled myself, I would be worried about where momma is, that is a baby killer whale.

Once it swam away I would probably light up a fatty and thank God for not taking me yet.
