I did try to look it up and wasn't able to find a single great white kayak fatality. It's possible I'm mistaken. Or the list I saw may have been US only?

This happened in Malibu several years ago.

ly, it appears that the two kayakers had paddled close to where a large white shark had either killed a sea lion, or was stalking a whistle buoy where sea lions had climbed up on. A witness did recall watching panicked sealions trying to climb up the upper portions of the metal scaffolding of the buoy. One victim was found floating in the water later with massive tissue loss to her thigh, leading to her death either by blood loss and/or drowning. Her partners body was never found. From an examination of the body, it appears that her kayak was struck from behind and underneath, accelerating the kayak and causing her head and hands to strike the kayak deck hard enough to cause bruising.

I stand corrected.
