I have a Lowrance Mark 4...still need to figure out where I am going to mount my FF.

Brandi,

By chance were you going to mount it on your hatch cover?  RAM makes a 1" wedge ball that can be inserted and locked in to any of the holes with the turn of a screwdriver.  They also make a bracket with a ball end for Lowrance FFs which allows you to replace the stock mount.

Right now, hatch cover is the location that seems to work best for me - and hadn't figured out a more secure method to mount other than my temporaty silly time consumptive tie down method.  I think you may have my solution!!  I checked out the RAM site, but did not see any mount that would fit into the hole, only mounts with flat bottoms.  Can I impose upon you to provide more specific info?  And I really like the cables going through the hatch.  Is that a cover sold through RAM also?  Or?  I am interested in that too!!

THANK YOU for the suggestion!!

edit* I am going to give them a call tomorrow and see which wedge mount and bracket works best for the Lowrance Mark 4 on my O.K. Trident 13 hatch.

The wedge mount I believe is a 354. I have one for Atwood holders that you can try in your kayak. I will have it at my camp site.

Brandi,

The install looks clean, nice job. If you decide to go the Ram mount path for the head unit, let me know. I have an extra RAM Mount 1" RAM Wedge Mount f/Hobie & Scotty RAP-B-354U you can have.  I really like the flexibility of mounting the head unit this way. The ability to easily remove/stow for surf landings is ideal. Let me know, I can bring it up with me to Albion, site# D15... I think? See you up at Albion. Mike  :smt001

My wife is picking up my Elite 4 today  :smt044. I have an OK T13, is the bottom RAM mount the one to use for mounting my FF under the sonar shield?

Would your suggestion of a waterproof 2-wire fuse link be replacing my inline fuse or additional?
If you already have one in the dry box then you're good to go.  :smt001  I just didn't see one in the pictures.

If you switch over to a 12v brick style battery and the battery isn't in a dry box I would recommend installing a waterproof 2 wire blade style fuse holder. You can take a peek at mine along with the wire management at Albion if you want.

Thanks for the cap suggestion however I did not want to use grease.

I am a little curious why you don't want to use the dielectric grease. It will drastically help to reduce the corrosion of the electrical FF pins and ultimately can save the Fish finder from the harsh water/salt environment. Dielectric grease is specifically meant to be applied to electrical connections/connectors. I end up slathering every electrical connection both the ones I'm using as well as ones I'm not. It won't hurt the connection and you don't have to remove the grease if you do end up using the port. Just plug the connector in and let it ooze out.

I will come by and see your battery set up - also that cable cover.  What is that called?  Where do I find you? I didn't want to use grease because I thought it would be a mess to clean up.  Thanks for the insight about the dielectric grease - I didn't know!  I may have to reconsider :)

Brandi, that cable cover is called a Thru Hull Cable Fitting.  You can get them at West Marine.  I tried my best to find a link on the web but it has to be one of the most elusive things on the planet - struck out.

Here's the Lowrance Mount - use that with the Wedge Ball and you are set.

I would take a look at using the factory mount if putting under the T13's sonar cover.  Using the RAM stuff we are suggesting for the hatch cover may likely prevent you from simply folding the FF over when the sonar cover lid is closed.
