I know Bass Pro Mike Iaconelli  talked about this topic but somehow I find it very true every time I go fishing and my buddies always call me insane :smt006 for doing so but I have a special box with tackle that is reserved specifically for desperate; "NEED A HOOKUP SITUATION."  :smt013 I know I'm definitely not alone when it comes down to having a panic attack when fish aren't biting but I was wondering what's your guys, "Go To Approach," when the fish aren't biting?

For example, whenever I go bass fishing, I'm proficient in all areas in regards to hardbaits, softbaits, and swimbaits but when the shit hits the fan and I fish for more than two hours without a bite, I start panicking and I pull out my "special" box which is nothing more than a regular 4 inch senko. Somehow, I always feel confident that rain, wind, or snow, the 4 inch senko had always pulled through in desperate times.

Now, many of my buddies had labeled me with some kind of fishing syndrome in believing in false hope because they believe that sometimes the fish just won't bite and that is the luck of the draw. Yet, I continue to cast away with the 4 inch senko like a mad man but somehow I continue to believe that the 4 inch senko will make magic happen even if I had already fished for hours without a bite... :fishing1

I know a lot of anglers are afraid to admit that deep inside we all get a little insane sometimes when the fishes aren't biting but hey, when we're not catching, it becomes fishing right??? :fish So, what's your guys tactics when it comes down to your target species not biting?
Oh how I love the look on people's faces after they finish chowing down Rocky Mountain Oysters! Yup them oysters were good, now how were they made again?

I don't really let it get to me. Oh well, no fish. Still o the water. I get a little frustrated occasionally, but I'm usually laid back and it goes away quickly.

It's about mojo man. If you believe a lure will catch fish it will. The type of lure is not as important as confidence. :smt003

So, what's your guys  when it comes down to your target species not biting?

I'll try other species and if it fails too...oh well...no fish to clean  :smt003

Dual-bladed white spinnerbait seems to routinely catch me fish..

Of course now I want to throw Senkos :smt007
Let me explain something to you. Um, I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

My go to bait for bass ...
3/8 oz Fish-On Jig in Big Ugly color with weedless Arky head and 4 in Yamamoto Twintail (color 221 or 140)
Tougher the bite ...
Slower the presentation
That is money in the bank ;0)

See Ya Soon,

no bites, I try to focus on something else, especially having a snack or taking a leak.
It seems that more often than not, setting the fishing rod down and doing something else always gets a fish to hit. It worked twice for me at GS7. Just be sure your rod is leashed :smt044 :smt044(no pun intended)

+1.  That's always been the method of last resort for me and my family. Have a snack, drink a beer, take a leak...all at the same time...then the fish will bite FOR SURE!

All it takes is a bottle of moonshine & the fish will bite

Ditto what RacinRob said about being on the water. When im on the delta or CL I will throw a topwater until 10 or 11 and once the sun hits the water the bites are far and few in between. I do not let this get to me as im on the water fishing and enjoying myself. Later in the afternoon if I really want to feel that tug on the line my go to bait is a 5 inch senko and I have all the confidence in the world that I wil get bit on it. The reason I do not start with it is topwater is my favorite way to fish and the strikes/blowups can't be beat.

Now if im on a lake like berry or oroville my go to bait with the utmost confidence for me is a dropshot rig with a 4inch proworms morning dawn with chart tail or a green weenie with chart tail.
