I've bought from Carl too..

had no problems and was a pleasant transaction , but they also knew I was well hooked up with ncka etc...  Carl does seem to be all about quantity and will often brag how they sell more kayaks than anyone... and will do anything to undersell anyone...

but if you talk to CC&k or Sunrise Sports, you will find that they say they take care of many of the service issues that come up as Adventure will not help, just what I heard...

The thing that got my goat is someone on here told Carl that I had been badmouthing Adventure Sports, (Never Happened) he complain to the west coast Hobie rep and I was reprimanded by Tim Crane about being " Unprofessional..."   :smt098

the funny part about that was Keith from CC&K was one the one who took me aside and reprimanded me, who actually cannot stand Adventure Sports...! That was incredibly ironic but was irritating that Tim could not tell me himself to get the real story and acted to busy to deal with the situation.

I told Tim that I did not say anything, but I also do not appreciate being called unprofessional or following any guide lines that hide the truth and quit the Hobie Fishing team...

If Adventure Sports does not want to be a full service kayak dealer or treat people with respect, there are plenty of other shops that do...

Again, I have never had a problem with them, and have sent many Sac City Firefighters to them with no complaints. They are aggressive with sales, but I do not see a problem with that as long as they follow through with customer service...

You remember that great price that Jed offered, that the older middle-age guy SWORE up and down that I was a liar, that I must be wrong because "Wilderness Systems has a price minimum!"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wilderness-Systems-Ride-135-2013-Camo-Kayak-City-Angler-r4c-/251304020957

Yeah that is the same price,,,, of course if I had of bought this they would have saved quite a bit on the lack of shipping... wow....

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience with them. My friends and I have been dealing with them for a number of  years now and all I can say I've been treated with respect as a customer . If I were you I would to Oakley (Kayak City) and talk to Jed about you experience there and I'm sure Jed can help you out to solve your ordeal ..

Oh, you're right, however that was the same price I was quoted with a rudder.

And both of those guys refused to name any price, trying to trick me into going as high as they could. I mean I understand that they are trying to make as much money as they can, however in life-cycle costs (ie. accessories, after care, maybe return business, referrals,) they stood to make a HELL of a lot more off of me than the $50 or $100 they were trying to screw me out of on the kayak. I WAS planning on dropping a few hundred on accessories at their store instead of buying them cheaper online...

Sure. I just didn't want someone throwing it back at you if it came to that.

I don't know what it is, but it's seems you have to be on your toes more than usual lately. I had a plumber quote and bill me for 57' of sewer line replacement. Low and behold, the line backs up again a few months later. Weeks, multiple back ups and videos later it turns out he did 45' of work. The guy even proposed a $2,400 fix in the beginning. He eventually made it right, but no acknowledgement or apology.

I don't mean to rattle on, but this sort of thing just seems more common now than I can recall from the past.

My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

Hey, Primo...

Bummer experience, bad service sends me right out the door, and I have no shame griping about it to everyone - word of mouth, right? Anyway - I've never bought a kayak from Wind Toys Water Sports Center in Santa Rosa, but make it a point to stop in every time I head to & from Lake County/Mendo County. Bought lots of small gear over the years, they've got a ton of Hobies these days, likely a few others, and the service has always been outstanding... folks are so happy to sit around and chat about gear and fishing, etc, and I've always felt welcome even if I wasn't buying anything. I know Santa Rosa is a ways, but I'd be happy to meet you there & do a meal or a fishing excursion... Have had good times at Aquan Sports in Redwood City - they were having some big sales a couple weeks ago. Make a trip out of it, we'll hit the ocean or something w/ your new yak :)

Yeah man, I might be picking up a job in Vallejo (with the associated review agency in Santa Rosa.) so there is a chance I will be driving there somewhat regularly... :smt003

Hello,
I have sent "The Dude" a pm to try and work out this issue.  There was some lack of communication between the two shops.  After speaking with Jed, quite a bit of time had passed between his original quote he got and when he came into our Sac shop. Deals and promotions are changing all the time and we were unaware of what Jed had been working out with "the Dude". I can honestly tell everyone on here that we try our hardest to make sure everyone that comes into our shop leaves here happy.  We offer the best deal that we can on the kayak that you are interested in and the best level of customer service possible.  There will always be some growing pains and a few bad experiences as we are constantly trying to improve ourselves.  I have read the posts, and apologize to anyone that did not get the highest level of customer service while at our Sac store.  I am personally working on making sure "The dude" is happy and have apologized for his experience.
