Hi ALL,

I plan  to take my dad for San Pablo reservoir for kayak fishing. as I understood the catfish should be our prime target so shrimp, anchovy and chicken liver already purchased. :)

I would appreciate any info since I never fish there from kayak.

Thanks,
Igor

We headed to the "reserves" (the no engine area) north of the boat launch area(orinda side). Any trees, bushes or overhangs that casted shade held the cats. Try casting right up to the tullie lines also. Look for openings or holes along the tullie lines. There are also a million Monster Carp up that ways, so if you know how to do that(i dont, but would love to fight one of those beasts one day)
Good luck!  ....andDONTforgetTHEcamera!  :smt002

Mussel inspection. Make sure your yaks are bone dry. Some decent bass there also. I used to hit that place a lot for bass.

I went out sunday morning hoping for trout. I marked alot of fish near the damn and fished 25' to 50' without a bite. I didnt see a fish caught while I was there. The water is 72 degrees, really murky, and the lake is low. Should be great for catfish though.

+1 Also the boat launch does not usually charge for the inspection, and the main area charges $6 per day and makes getting a 30 day inspection pass difficult.

The lake is low so I dont think there is fishable water there now.

The lake is low, so no tulle lines or branches or cover or anything shoreline based.

Go the the "Boat Launch" side. There is a small boat anchored by the entrance to the "bird sanctuary" aka the no gas motor area. Anchor between that boat and the entrance the the bird sanctuary.

My go to recipe is med sized shrimp soaked in Paultzke Fire cure shrimp and crab scent.

Good luck!
