I agree that watching the weather forecast won't change it. Maybe some people have done it so many times that they don't care if they get to fish or just hang out in camp. Enjoy it sure! How can you not enjoy camping out in a beautiful place with a nice group of people. I may only get a couple chances to fish the ocean this year, so it matters to me whether I get blown off the water or not. Add to that, I really don't think looking at the forecast for the two days I will be able to fish is "mind fucking".

I've never been there so I am not aware there is an area so well protected that conditions are not a factor. It's good to hear that's the case.

The WX isn't real accurate until the day before and even then, it's at best 50/50 especially for the Mendo. The cove is fairly protected unless the swell is from the west. Inevitably you have to get out there then make the decision on the water or on shore where you can see the true conditions. If it looks like it is beyond your skill or comfort level, have a nice breakfast in Mendocino and go wine tasting in the Anderson valley or go for a paddle on the river. Lots of fun stuff to do at Albion. Personally, I am looking forward to the rib competition the most.
