My second biggest rockfish of the day!

Had a great time. If I was going to be de-throned, I'm glad it was you two. Good job!

Congrats to all the winners, you all deserve a round of applause for your efforts in the "sporty" conditions. Big thanks to Greg and Pacific Outfitters for a job well done. Can't wait till next year.

Lots of fish, lots of brews, lots of fun!  Thanks to Pacific Outfitters for putting this on, we'll be back for more.  :smt001
Our plan was to head out to the upper reef, but the conditions got the best of Bryan and he was sharing his breakfast before we got to the target.  I have to give him props though, for his first time on the salt he gave it hell.  We retreated back to the bay, downsized the gear and had a blast pulling on blacks all day, probably around 40 of 'em.  Great eats at the pot luck, the kids loved the Lost Coast Brewery root beer floats! :smt001

Knowing it was 113 degrees back at home, we took our time leaving and hit an evening session yesterday for more blacks and a few lings.

Big thanks to Greg and the guys at Pacific Outfitters for organizing such a great event!  Matt and I had a blast.  The seas weren't playing in our favor to fish my favorite Trinidad reefs unfortunately, and it seems the kelp beds are pathetic this year.  I love fishing the Trinidad kelp beds, but many of the spots east of Flatiron that normally have kelp this time of year were devoid of it.  Kinda lame, but we still grinded out some nice fish.  The pre-fish on Friday was much, much nicer to us than the actual tournament day.  We thought we'd nailed a pattern on Friday but the fish seemed to have other plans for us on Saturday.  We both came away with some fillets though, and I was able to snap some pretty sweet shots of the fish we found.

The colors on kelp greenling are amazing!

Matt picked up a 13 inch red Irish Lord on Friday, which was pretty cool.

Best part of the trip fishing-wise for me was a double hookup on a 15 inch black rockfish, and a 23 inch, 9-pound cabezon!  Of course, that had to happen on Friday and not the tourney day  :smt005.

Great to see old and new faces at this tournament.  I look forward to next year!

OK, Brandi and I tied in the "Barbie Pole Competition", and I was hoping I could win outright so we could change the name to the "Spiderman Pole Competition".  If I had to tie someone though, I'm glad it was Brandi.  Maybe we can call it the Barbie/Spiderman Competition...   :smt001

Thanks, Craig.  Once I got over feeling seasick from fishing outside a couple hours, I was having a ball for the rest of the day.  The SUP X-Factor was the highlight of my day and I will be doing an extended trip that way at some point.  Good Times.   :smt001
