I only "mooch" for bait - get your facts straight 

Gate doesn't open until 8 so no need to be there at 6...

you can park on the dirt road across the gate and wheel your yak under the gate and down the ramp 

And sit there? Officail launch is at 8:30.

Mol do you mind if we fish early and meet back at the launch for the official start?

I'm going in early to "pre fish" 

I wanna leave early and be there early just to avoid the HWY 17 traffic

I have no problem with that.  Scouts honor on when you catch your fish.

Which direction 17 are you coming?  Are you going down the coast and then up from Santa Cruz?

7-8am 17 north on a saturday is a ghost road.  South tourist traffic doesn't really start untill 9.  Traffic wont be an issue.

I just didn't want people to feel they needed to cross a road with a yak for safety issues.

The pre-fishing may be good for topwater.
