Official 2006 Elk info thread- More prizes added!!

This is my two cents on the bragging rights/trophy thought.  I will use my coaching background to make this proposal. 

If there is to be a trophy then maybe it could be be the Elk trophy only.  We can bring it to elk every year and have it engraved with the winning county and score.  Place it on potluck table and the winner get to eat first too. 

Each member of the winning  team gets an NCKA T-shirt that has Elk derby champ on it and the year. That way whenever we venture North we can rub it in with our shirts.  This may seem a bit too formal but this is how we do it in sports.  1 trophy, everyone gets t-shirts to show off. year, date, event.

Man those are not good conditions to fish in.  Just ask chuck about our crabbing adventure.  Or anyone who has fished OP, San Pablo or Berkley pier.   

Sweet, having honed my fishing off the Sonoma coast, those are my prefered kayak fishing conditions.  I just can't get a decent drift in anything less than 25 kts and a short period 8 ft wind wave gives my jig a nice ling enticing action.  Now all I need is really thick fog and maybe a red tide or hypoxia event.

Ah man, the marine weather forecast is starting to get better (but they're at least talking about fog now).   Hopefully it will still scare off those of you who get "mal de mer".

N wind 15 to 25 kt. Wind waves 4 to 6 ft. NW swell 5 ft. Patchy fog.

Okay.  It was not just me.  I have NEVER before (okay, I admit I am spoiled) seen conditions where wind waves exceeded swell.

I'm optimistic that there will be just enough of a weather window for me to run out to my secret spot with my secret lure and secret bait with my secret rod loaded with secret fishing line and very quitely (secretly if you will) land a winning Ling before the water becomes completely unmanageable. 

 

As long as the wind holds out the 2 days prior to the tourney I will be happy. That would allow me to plant my secret chum bag in a secret spot where everyone paddles PAST on their way to their secret spot in order to lure lingzilla away from any previously said secret spots.
