Lookin to head to trinidad on either Saturday or Sunday. Conditions look good so far. It will be my maiden voyage in the ocean on a kayak. Anybody have the same idea?

Latest NWS forecast:

 .SAT...NW WINDS 5 TO 15 KT. WAVES...NW 5 FT AT 7 SECONDS.

That does look good - especially compared to how windy and lumpy it's been for a week or so, and the rest of this week looks rough too.  Good luck out there.   :smt001

Was just over there for a family trip, no fishing allowed.  :smt012  Luckily the conditions were crap so it was a good weekend to be there and build WAF.  I'm not very likely to be able to make it to the coast this weekend, but if you decide to stay local shoot me a message as I'll be able to get out Saturday a.m.

There is a good chance I will be out there Saturday, but I can be hard to fish with cause I usually don't stay to close to shore.  I will be going for halibut and salmon sometime between Saturday and Wednesday next week.

Don't know that I'm ready for halibut and salmon yet :smt012. Not planning on venturing out too far yet. If I am by myself I will not make it far out of the harbor If I find a willing person though and the conditions allow I'll venture around the head. Hope to see you around any how. I'll be in a black Tacoma 4x4 with an aftermarket bumper and winch.

I might be down for a Saturday morning meat run around the head if the ocean looks decent.  Sunday morning is a possibility too.  Post in this thread when you know when you are coming over or shoot me a PM.  I can post a hookup on LCKA facebook page.

For your first trip on the salt, you probably don't want to try to keep up with Rob  :smt005

I may be up for this weekend depending on weather.
Will be my first trip out of Trinidad on a Kayak also.
If the water is not to my comfort level, I plan to atleast putts around the harbor and get used to the gear and all.
I'll be in Trinidad for the month and be able to go on good days.

Do we have to park on the beach or are we allowed to use the parking lot?

Park on the beach if you have four wheel drive.

I'm down to get out this weekend. Can't say I know the best spots as I've only gone out at trinidad twice despite being 10 minutes away the last 5 years, but I'm into finding em :smt003

Jigging lead and flies is definitely one of the easy ways to get rockfish and some lings, but don't forget to try putting a herring on a barbless mooching slip rig behind a banana weight and bounce it around south and outside of the Flat Iron area.  You could definitely bring a salmon home.  Good luck out there - be safe and have fun.   :smt001
